eu
sounds like "oy" in English
Whenever you see eu in a German word, pronounce it like the "oy" sound in English words like "boy" or "toy".
Tip
Don't read "eu" as "ee-oo" — it's a single sound: "oy". Just like when you say "Oye!" in Hindi. Every time you see eu in German, say "oy".

äu
also sounds like "oy" — same as eu!
The combination äu (a-umlaut + u) is pronounced exactly the same as eu. Whenever you see äu, just say "oy".
Why two spellings?
German uses äu when a word is related to another word that has au. For example: Haus (house) → Häuser (houses). The spelling changes but the sound is the same "oy" you already know.
